Perdue frees up $38 million for North Carolina counties
Next week, North Carolina counties will get $38 million in overdue lottery funds earmarked for school construction.
In late February Governor Beverly Perdue took the money to deal with state budget issues, forcing many county leaders to scramble to find another way to make debt payments on building projects.
Perdue said she is now able to free up the money because the books are closed on the fiscal year and there is some cash available.
