Brunswick Co. man sentenced following assault
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County man was sentenced to 80-109 months in prison for charges following an assault on his girlfriend.
According to a release from the Brunswick County District Attorney’s Office, Travis Stanley plead guilty in Brunswick County Superior Court to habitual misdemeanor assault, habitual felon, and assault on a female.
Officials say on September 3, 2015 Stanley punched his girlfriend in the face as she was holding their infant. In addition, Stanley assaulted a law enforcement officer after they arrived on scene. Stanley has prior convictions that allowed for him to be charged and convicted of both habitual misdemeanor assault and habitual felon under North Carolina law.
Assistant District Attorney Jacob Ward says, “The District Attorney’s office is committed to reducing acts of violent crime in this district, and we will use all the substantive offenses and sentencing enhancements that North Carolina law allows.”
