Crowd gathers at St. James to protest annexation

A crowd of more than 100 people gathered to express their opposition to annexation plans by the Town of Saint James this weekend.

The event was held at the Midway Trading Post on Highway 211, a business which stands to be annexed by the neighboring town.

If the plan goes through, the business would be subject to town zoning laws as well as taxes.

Event organizers say that annexation is not only wrong, it’s un-American.
