Reward offered in 2011 Brunswick County missing teen case

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The FBI and Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are hoping a new reward will help the case of a missing teenager.

Rachel Natacha Owens was last seen getting into a car at South Brunswick High School in May of 2011. The car was described as a small, dark-colored car with a possible South Carolina license plate. A spokeswoman with the FBI office in Charlotte said investigators received a tip that she might have been seen in Columbus, Ohio in 2014. She said agents are now offering a $5,000 reward.

Rachel is now 20 years old and could go by the name Raquel or Rakel, the spokeswoman said. She also said Rachel had run away in the past and expressed a desire to go to Mexico.

Anyone with information on Rachel’s whereabouts should call the FBI at 1-800-225-5324 or the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office at 910-253-2777.
