UPDATE: 3 charged in Wilmington prostitution, human trafficking bust


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said three men are facing charges in a heroin and human trafficking investigation.

Deputies said the arrests were made in the early-morning hours at two hotels on Market Street. They did not name the hotels, but one location was in the 5100-block, according to jail records.

Investigators have arrested the following: Carroll Collins, 18, Tamarcus Ellis, 26, and Alkabeer Lewis, 25. Both Collins and Lewis are facing prostitution and human trafficking charges, in addition to other charges. They both have a $1 million bond. Ellis is facing drug charges including trafficking heroin. He’s being held under no bond.
