Man arrested after leading Brunswick Co. deputies on car chase into SC

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man is behind bars this morning after a car chase started in Brunswick County and ended in a crash in South Carolina.

Brunswick County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Emily Flax said it started around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Etheridge and Longwood roads. That’s where Flax said John Lee Green began leading deputies on a chase down Ash-Little River Road.

Flax said Green led Brunswick County deputies down several more roads before the chase entered into Horry County, SC. That’s where Flax said Horry County deputies took over.

She said Green eventually hit a tree, and deputies caught up with him as he tried to run away. Green is now booked in J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Warrants were drawn for Green in Brunswick County, which he will face when he is finished going through the legal system in Horry County, according to Flax.
