Wilmington in Black and White race relations seminars began Thursday night

The first of several race relations seminars began Thursday night.

District Attorney Ben David started Wilmington in Black and White. This is its second year, and the program will focus on several topics over the course of eight weeks, but its inaugural session last night was about the power of southern culture. The class explores the future and history of race relations in Wilmington.

“For years we have not understood that history and it plays out every day in our interactions because we don’t know how things got this way so this is insight in to the past and a window in to the future for race relations in the area,” described organizer Kimberly McLaughlin.

There is still availability if you are interested in signing up. You can find more information at www.wilmingtoninblackandwhite.org.
