Wilmington’s Coastal Horizons Crisis Center celebrated Thursday

There was a celebration for Wilmington’s Coastal Horizons Crisis Center Thursday night. State Secretary of Health and Human Services Lanier Cansler gave the keynote address.

Cansler said amid budget cuts, Coastal Horizons, which provides substance abuse counseling and mental health treatment, continues to provide an important and vital service to southeastern North Carolina.

“The budget times are bad and we’re struggling at the Department of Health and Human Services to implement cuts in a way that do not damage the ability to provide the services. Working closely with providers like Coastal Horizons is what we have to do to make that happen,” said Cansler.

Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo and State Representative Carolyn Justice were among the audience for the celebration.
