Wilmington could float $38 million parks bond in November
WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — The $20 million development of the city’s North Waterfront Park and $10 million construction of a new soccer complex highlight a $38 million bond package presented Monday to city council.
Amy Beatty, the city’s superintendent of recreation, gave a brief presentation regarding the referendum, which officials would like to see placed on November’s ballot.
The bond, which is the city’s first since it joined with the county to float a joint $35 million bond in 2006, was created by paring down a list that included $60 million of projects. Council members Margaret Haynes, Paul Lawler and Charlie Rivenbark worked with staff to craft the final proposal.
