Police investigating after stabbing victim shows up to hospital

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they said a man showed up to the hospital with stab wounds more than 10 hours after the crime reportedly happened.

A WPD spokeswoman said the victim told police he was robbed with a knife around 2 a.m. Monday in the 5300 block of Market Street. The spokeswoman said police didn’t find out about the crime until around 12:40 p.m. when he showed up at the hospital.

Police said the victim told them he was walking on Market Street when he began having a conversation with two men when one of them approached him. They said the victim told officers that’s when a verbal dispute started, and one of them took out a knife and stabbed him in the abdomen.

The victim said the suspect wrestled him to the ground, while the other suspect kicked the victim, knocking him unconscious, according to WPD. The victim told police he later woke up and his wallet and cash were gone.

That’s when the spokeswoman said victim went to the hospital.

Police said the victim described one of the suspects as being a black male, between 6′ and 6’3″, 170 lbs. with short black hair and dark clothing. They said the other man is described as being a black male, about 5’8″ and 200 lbs. with short black hair and dark clothing.

The spokeswoman did not have a specific description of the suspects.
