Investigation ‘still underway’ in fiery crash that killed toddler

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — More than three weeks after a fiery crash in New Hanover County, investigators have still not filed charges.

A mother and her two children were involved in a one-car crash on River Road in late April. The SUV burst into flames, killing the toddler and injuring the mother and other child.

Warrants show the driver, Melissa Henderson, had drugs in her system at the time of the crash. Additional warrants also said drug paraphernalia was also found in the car.

A spokeswoman with District Attorney Ben David said the investigation is ongoing.
