NC university invites businesses to quiz lawyers

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — With times as tough for small business as they are now, the offer of free legal advice to get through a problem can be hard to pass up.

Wake Forest University’s law school offers entrepreneurs in the Winston-Salem area a free shot at asking a budding lawyer what to do. The law school said it’s targeting small businesses or nonprofits that otherwise might not be able to afford an attorney.

Third-year law students can draft incorporation documents, employment agreements and purchase agreements with vendors.

Law professor Steve Virgil said many clients have fairly straightforward legal questions that young lawyers can answer.

Three more business-law clinics are scheduled in October and November.
