Substitute teacher charged for assault on student
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A former Brunswick County substitute teacher has been charged for assaulting a student after less than two weeks on the job.
According to warrants 70-year-old Peter Jay Julicher has been charged with misdemeanor simple assault for pulling and pushing a student at South Brunswick Middle School around noon today.
Officials say Julicher turned himself in without incident, processed into the Brunswick County Detention Facility, and released under a $1,000 secured bond.
According to school officials, he was officially hired as a substitute on May 6 and was relieved of his duties today.
