New state mandate requires recycling

Wednesday we took a look at new laws passed this year that go into effect October 1st. Another new law Thursday that has been in the work for years changes what you can throw away.

As of today, a new state mandate requires you recycle items like plastic bottles, oil filters and wood pallets. That means all those drink bottles we use so much cannot go in the trash.

The new ban is aimed at boosting awareness about recycling. The legislature passed the ban back in 2005.
