1 NC officer in critical condition, 2nd improves
WINSTON-SALEM — One North Carolina police officer remains in critical condition after being shot, while a second officer is improving.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported that 50-year-old Winston-Salem Sgt. Mickey Hutchens remained in critical condition early Thursday after the shooting a day earlier.
Lt. David Lamb said 28-year-old Officer Daniel Clark was seriously injured but is improving.
Hutchens has been on the police force for 27 years and Clark for six years.
Police did not immediately return a phone call from The Associated Press seeking information on the officers’ conditions.
A suspect was killed in the shooting, which followed a foot chase from a fast-food restaurant. His name has not been released by police.
