Pilot not hurt when small plane crashes in NC lake
WILSON, N.C. — A North Carolina man has escaped injury when his small plane crashed into a reservoir in Wilson.
Multiple media outlets reported that police said the plane came down in the Buckhorn Reservoir about 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Seventy-nine-year-old John Massey of Clayton told authorities he was temporarily blinded by the sun and the plane was too close to the water when he could see again.
Some people at a boat dock helped Massey out of the plane. He was evaluated by Wilson County emergency medical services workers but was not taken to a hospital.
The single-engine, two-seat Remos G3 was pulled from the water late Thursday.
Police and the National Transportation Safety Board are taking part in the investigation.
