UNCW welcomes the Lady Seahawks

Wednesday we met the men’s team, Thursday, the UNCW Lady Seahawks introduced themselves to the media.

Head coach Ann Hancock and her team have high expectations for the upcoming season. New to the team is point guard Jessica Freeman, three-point shooting specialist Brittany Gamby, and Mya Levels who holds an all-time record for vertical jump.

Nearly all starting players from last season are returning to the court, including junior guard Brittany Blackwell who says the team’s chemistry is electric. “We’re used to playing with each other, which is definitely a plus. We do have three new people who will come and help us pick up where we lack,” she said.

Coach Hancock said, “The sky is the limit, in my opinion with this team. My goal ever since I’ve been here is to make post-season play, and no team has ever done that at UNCW on the women’s side. That’s our ultimate goal. We would like to win the CAA and advance on to tournament play.”

The first day of practice for the Lady Seahawks is Friday.
