Craig Marshall remembered after surfing tragedy
A local surf and skate shop is hosting a special event, in honor of the Topsail High student who died in a surfing accident last week.
Fifteen-year-old Craig Marshall was a regular visitor to the Doublewide Skate and Surf Shop in Hampstead. He drowned Friday, while surfing in the Outer Banks.
The shop is now making plans for a skateboarding contest in his memory. It’ll take place November 14th at the Skate Barn located behind the store. All money raised will go to the Marshall family.
“Hopefully, we’ll get the local kids to kick in some skate videos, and some pictures, and we’ll sort of have that kind of thing going on during the contest so people can kind of get a feel of Craig’s presence at the contest,” said Jimmy Ellington of Doublewide.
Funeral services for Craig Marshall were held Monday morning at Scott’s Hill Baptist Church in Wilmington. We’re told many Topsail High students missed school, to remember their friend.
