Volunteers help needy families in Leland
The government is lending a helping hand to feed the hungry. Four times a year, the USDA buys extra food to help support American farmers and help the needy.
Wednesday, volunteers at the Victory Free Will Baptist Church in Leland put together packages for needy families.
Some of the volunteers benefited from the program in the past and enjoy sharing the support they once received.
“I’ve been here for the last three months and it’s really been a blessing to me just to be here and help somebody that really needs and see the smile on their face, can’t beat it,” said Terry Williams.
Items included everything from canned vegetables to dairy products and loaves of bread.
If you missed today’s distribution, Free Will Baptist Church will offer its own food support program Saturday.
