Hot stuff at this year’s Chili Cook Off

Saturday, it was all about chowing down for a good cause. The 23rd Annual Chili Cook Off went on as scheduled despite a little rain.

Visitors could sample any of the eleven different varieties of chili prepared by local restaurants. The money raised from the cook off goes to benefit the Domestic Violence Shelter of Wilmington.

Domestic Violence Shelter executive director Mary Ann Lama said, “The chili cook off has been a consistent stream of support for us for all those years. Its great to see so many people who come out and support it, and we have a great group of volunteers that come out too.”

WWAY’s Kevin Wuzzardo was on the panel of judges. After blindly sampling all the different chilis, the entry from the Pilot House won.

Fat Tony’s Pub won the award for best decorated booth with it’s “Killer Chili” theme.
