Investigators: Florida man killed in SC skydiving accident

LOWRYS, SC (AP) – Investigators in Chester County have identified the man killed in a weekend skydiving accident.

The Herald of Rock Hill reports the Chester County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the body of 32-year-old Bond Springer of Boca Raton, Florida, was found in a wooded area nearly 14 hours after the accident.

According to the sheriff’s office, Springer was skydiving in a wing suit Saturday evening when he collided with a second skydiver. The report said the other man landed when his parachute deployed and was transported for treatment of a broken leg.

Rescue crews had to suspend their initial search due to approaching storms. They resumed the search at 7 a.m. Sunday and found Springer’s body a short time later.

Both skydivers were described as experienced.
