Fitness competition benefits childhood cancer research
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Crossfit competitors from around the area gathered Saturday to raise money to benefit childhood cancer research.
Nearly 40 participants showed up to support the Little Warrior Organization out of Boston. The organization says there are more than 13, 000 pediatric cancer diagnoses every year. The Organization’s founder Chad Verry saidseeing the appreciation from families is what he enjoys most.
“Talking to mothers and fathers and saying what my charity is andtheir little son or daughter is sitting there and they stop me and they say thank you,” Verry said.
A majority of Little Warrior’s proceeds go to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School.
