Third Eye Blind band members credited with saving kids caught in Carolina Beach rip current

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Two members of the pop band Third Eye Blind are credited with saving a group of kids caught in a rip current at Carolina Beach last week, according to TMZ.

The entertainment news and gossip site reports Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins and drummer Brad Hargreaves were surfing Wednesday at Carolina Beach when they heard four boys ages 12 to 15 screaming for help and struggling to get out of a rip current that had pulled them about 100 yards out to sea.

The band posted a photo of the rescue to its Twitter account.

TMZ reports the rockers paddled out on their surfboards to help get them back to shore. According to Third Eye Blind’s Twitter feed, the band was in the area rehearsing for its appearance at the Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee this weekend.
