ONLY ON 3: Teen speaks out after surprising community at West Brunswick graduation
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A West Brunswick High School senior shocked her community this weekend at the school’s graduation.
After a 2014 wreck, Selena Utter was left paralyzed, but Friday she defied all odds and walked across the stage to receive her diploma. For the past 5 months, she’s gone through intense physical therapy to achieve her goal. She says the journey has not been an easy one, but it all paid off on that stage.
“When I heard the crowd going crazy, I just got hyped up,” Utter said. “Anything at that moment, I did not care. I was going across that stage.”
She plans to attend Brunswick Community College in the fall, so she can continue working with her therapists.
