Church hosts special beach trip for kids
KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A new church is reaching out to the Wilmington community in a unique way this summer.
CityLife church is planning beach trips for local kids who may not have the opportunity to visit the coast. Their pastor, Mike Dicker, said they hope to show the kids a different way of life. Women’s pastor Cala Dickey said Saturday’s first day trip was successful.
“We realized that there were kids who have lived here their whole life and have never seen the beach, never got to put their toes in the water, in the sand,” Dickey said. “Our heart behind this was to take as many kids as we possibly could to the beach.”
The church plans to continue the outings, every other week, throughout the summer.
