WPD investigating overnight shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A spokeswoman with the Wilmington Police Department said two men are recovering after they were shot overnight.

Police said the incident was reported in the 600-block of Anderson Street just after 1 a.m. They said four people were in a car when they said they were approached by a group of men who started shooting. Two people in the car ran off and two were able to get away in the vehicle. One of the men who ran from the scene called 911 to report he was shot.

Police said another call came in shortly after the incident reporting a second shooting victim, one of the men who got away in the car. There’s no word on the conditions of either men, but a WPD spokeswoman said she didn’t believe the injuries were life-threatening.

There was no description given for the shooters.
