Flooding rains, severe storms possible across NC
RALEIGH — A low pressure system moving toward North Carolina from the Gulf of Mexico could bring flooding to the western part of the state and severe storms to the coast.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the Piedmont and southern mountains for Wednesday. Forecasters say more than two inches of rain could fall as the low moves out of the Gulf of Mexico.
The weather service says the same storm could bring damaging winds and maybe even isolated tornadoes to the central and eastern part of the state after nightfall on Wednesday.
Forecasters say the best chance of dangerous storms is east of Interstate 95.
