Sea Notes bring holiday spirit to Southport

WWAY continues our month-long Cape Fear Pride focus on Southport, where the holiday spirit is already going strong. This weekend you get a chance to enjoy some holiday music thanks to the Sea Notes Choral Society.

It is an all-volunteer group with more than 100 members. The theme for their Christmas concert is “The Old, The New, The Traditional.”

Concert director Dave Christensen said, “I tried to put into the concert something for everyone. For people looking to hear traditional Christmas music, we have the traditional things: “Winter Wonderland,” “Silent Night,” a lot of those things. For the old, people have said, ‘Do you do any of the great choral master works?’ and we’ll be doing the Vivaldi ‘Gloria’. And for the new, does great classical music have to be 300 years old? So we have something from John Rudder that’s almost Broadway sounding.”

The Sea Notes Christmas concert is free. It is Thursday and Friday night at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Hatch Auditorium in Caswell Beach.
