NC woman hit and killed after stopping to help cat
CARRBORO, N.C. — A North Carolina woman who stopped to help a cat that had just been hit by a car was struck and killed by another car.
WRAL-TV reports that 60-year-old Melinda Grossman of Chapel Hill was hit and killed Saturday evening in Carrboro, about 30 miles west of Raleigh.
Police say Grossman had stopped to help an injured cat on the roadway. She was hit by a 71-year-old driver who didn’t see her bending over to help the cat because it was dark, and she was wearing dark clothing.
Police say the driver was going the speed limit and that no charges will be filed.
