UFO Club dances the day away

Holiday parties are something we all look forward to this time of year. Some local adults with developmental disabilities danced the day away with D.J. Smooth Wednesday at their holiday celebration at the Elks Lodge in Wilmington.

The adults make up the UFO Club, or “Unique Fun Ones”. The purpose of the club is to provide services, social interaction, and opportunities that are not readily available in our community to adults with developmental disabilities.

Member Dennis Templeton said, “It’s a good experience for the members of the UFO Club. It’s a big gathering for all of us.”

“The UFO Club puts these dances on for the developmentally disabled once a month, and it’s a place for them to get out and go and dance and socialize and do crafts, and cook, and just have a good time,” said Fran Greiner of the non-profit organization, First In Families of Southeastern North Carolina.
