NC police searching for suspect in hit-and-run

CHARLOTTE — Police in North Carolina are searching for a suspect in a hit-and-run accident that injured a police officer.

Multiple media outlets report that the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer was driving his patrol car in Charlotte on Sunday when the suspect broadsided his vehicle and drove away. The
suspect’s car was found abandoned a short time later.

The police officer was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. Officials estimate the damage to his patrol car at about $7,000.
