Court to hear arguments in two life sentence cases

North Carolina’s highest court plans to hear arguments in the case of two convicted killers who contend their life sentences are now complete.

Justices are keeping inmates Alford Jones and Faye Brown behind bars while the state appeals two rulings that said they should be freed.

The high court has expedited the schedule for written filings. Oral arguments could be held in February.

Jones is being held in the New Hanover County Correctional Facility.
