Rodanthe movie house sold to bail NC bondsman
RODANTHE, N.C. — A North Carolina bail bondsmen has bought the nearly condemned beach house made famous in the film “Nights in Rodanthe.”
The Hickory Daily Record reported Monday that Ben Huss of Newton bought the falling-down house officials wanted to condemn. Huss plans to move it a mile away where it won’t be as vulnerable to
coastal storms that pound the Outer Banks. The house was on the market for about $500,000. The 60-year-old bail bondsman and his wife say they’ll close on the house January 4.
Huss says they plan to restore the house and model the interior after the house’s appearance in the film, which was based on a Nicholas Sparks’ novel.
Officials say the house is a nuisance because movie fans try to climb the damaged stairs when ocean water washes up to the house.
