WPD: With help of stranger, domestic incident ends peacefully
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A spokeswoman with the Wilmington Police Department said a citizen, along with one of their own, helped to bring to an end a domestic situation with no injuries.
Police said they got a call this morning around the 700-block of Emory Street in reference to a domestic incident. When officers arrived, they said they were told a father left the area with his child. After a brief search, officers found the child unharmed.
Investigators said they then found the father who barricaded himself in a nearby apartment. The spokeswoman said the calming efforts of a Housing Task Force Sergeant and a citizen convinced the man, Perry Ford, 23, to surrender. Ford is facing charges including breaking and entering and second degree kidnapping.
