UPDATE: Dryer cord/plug to blame for house fire


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Crews with the Wilmington Fire Department have put out a blaze at a home on S. 12th Street.

Firefighters responded to a home in the 1500-block before 11 a.m. and said they had the fire out in less than 15 minutes. Officials said heavy flames were showing from the home but there were no injuries reported.

Investigators said the fire started in the clothes dryer and the cord/plug was the cause. Damage was listed at about $10,000.
