NC trooper demoted after incident in woman’s home
RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina High Patrol officials say a trooper who was at a woman’s home when she was attacked has been demoted and transferred.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reports Thursday that Anthony Scott was reassigned last month from Chatham County to Charlotte. Commander Randy Glover called it a personnel matter he could not discuss.
Court documents show Scott was a target of the woman’s estranged husband. Eric Andrews faces assault and kidnapping charges. He is accused of threatening to kill her, Scott and himself in August, then driving off with their children. Andrews’ lawyer would not comment.
Patrol officials confirmed a trooper was on duty at the Pittsboro home during the assault in August, but not on official business.
Scott has appealed his demotion.
