Purdue provost named chancellor at NC State
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) – A provost at Purdue University has been elected chancellor of North Carolina State University in Raleigh.
The Board of Governors of the 16-campus University of North Carolina system elected William Randolph “Randy” Woodson as chancellor during its meeting Friday in Chapel Hill. Woodson was
also executive vice president for academic affairs at the Indiana school.
The 52-year-old Woodson will assume his new duties by May 1. He succeeds James Woodward, who has served as interim chancellor since June of last year after the resignation of James Oblinger.
Oblinger resigned amid questions over his role in the hiring of former first lady Mary Easley, a controversy that also caused the provost and trustee chairman to resign.
