Demonstrators ask school board for position on HB2
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Demonstrators took to the New Hanover County School Board meeting tonight to ask the board to take a stance on the controversial House Bill 2.
One demonstrator, Jeff Cohen, said he has transgender children. He said although his kids are grown, he believes the board should send a message to the kids in New Hanover County Schools.
“The parents of transgender kids in the schools have to make decisions based on the schools policy. And currently they have no policy,” said Cohen.
He said they would like to get an answer, one way or the other, before kids head back to school this fall.
