4-year-old NC girl in hospital after icy fall

HICKORY, N.C. — A 4-year-old girl was still listed in critical condition after she was rescued from an icy North Carolina pond.

Multiple media outlets reported Sunday that the girl was airlifted to a hospital in Winston-Salem after she fell into a pond in Hickory Friday afternoon.

Witnesses said the girl was playing with friends near her apartment complex when she fell through the ice at about 3:30 p.m.

A neighbor pulled the girl from the icy water and gave her CPR until authorities arrived.

The girl’s name has not been released.
