Trooper: Driver hits road clean-up crew in Brunswick Co.

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — A man suffered serious injuries in a crash near Bolivia this morning.

Troopers said they got the call around 8:30 a.m. on US 17 in Brunswick County. They said a man driving southbound drove off of the highway and hit a parked truck. The truck was part of a road clean-up crew. No one was in the truck at the time of the crash.

The man sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. There’s no word on his condition at this time.

Troopers said the investigation continues, but they were able to rule out the use of phone and/or texting at the time of the crash.
