TreeFest offers deal on trees
For the past 13 years, TreeFest has been giving away seedlings. This year, more than 10,000 young trees are ready for people looking to enhance their yards or neighborhoods.
The event continues tomorrow in the JC Penny wing at Independence Mall in Wilmington. A suggested $3 donation can get you up to five trees of a variety of species.
“I’m going to plant them in my yard,” gardener Dulcie Fralin said “I like to try and plant native trees because they first of all help our native birds, and I like to naturalize my yard as much as possible because its easier to keep watered.”
The TreeFest committee organizes the event. Sponsors include the NC Forest Service, Progress Energy and the City of Wilmington.
