Police: Man caught stealing Bonsai tree
Officers were dispatched to the area of N 23rd and Market St in reference to a B&E that had just occurred at the Bonsai shop on the corner. A witness observed a white male exiting the green house carrying something in his hands. Officers arrived moments later to attempt to locate the suspect.
Sgt. Donelson located the suspect walking just a few blocks away. When the suspect was detained he admitted to taking a Bonsai tree from the green house although he did not have the plant in his possession at the time.
The suspect stated that he had set the tree in a backyard in the area. The suspect and officers searched the area but were unable to locate the Bonsai tree. The suspect was identified as Jack Barracco of Wilmington. Barracco was changed with B&E and larceny and is in the NHCO Jail under $2500.00 bond.
