School kids celebrate Mardi Gras

Kids at a Wilmington Catholic school learned the meaning of Mardi Gras today.

Kindergarten through eighth graders marched around St. Mary School showing off masks they made by themselves. The school band performed for parents and fans.

After the parade, kids caught Mardi Gras beads thrown off the balconies by their teachers.

Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is traditionally a day of excess and celebration before Lent, which starts with Ash Wednesday tomorrow.
