August declared ‘Coast Guard Month’ in New Hanover County

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County commissioners proclaim August as “Coast Guard Month”.

The commissioners issued the proclamation during their 4pm meeting at the courthouse. Coast Guard Sector North Carolina personnel were in attendance and thanks the members for the support and recognition.

“I want to thank the people of New Hanover County for all their support for our Coast Guard and our families,” said Capt. Patricia J. Hill, commander, Sector North Carolina. “Without being welcomed into New Hanover County communities, and without the tremendous support from New Hanover County Sheriffs out on the water, or the the county’s Emergency Management personnel, we would not be able to execute our missions as effectively. As we approach our service’s 226th birthday this Thursday, thank you for this wonderful proclamation.”
