Navassa cop faces more charges

A Navassa police officer charged with raping a child faces more charges.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office says after seeing news reports last week of Jaymin Murphy’s arrest, a second girl came forward claiming Murphy sexually assaulted her. Investigators say the girl was a victim in a case Murphy investigated for Navassa Police in December.

Murphy now faces one county of sexual assault, two counts of statutory sex offense, two county of exploitation of a minor and three counts of indecent liberties with a minor. He is in jail under a $1.1 million secured bond.
