Investigators say incident at school not rape

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says an incident at Ashley High School was not a rape after all.

Thursday detectives said they were investigating the report of an alleged rape of a female student Wednesday in a school bathroom next to the football field and involved a male student as the alleged perpetrator.

The student reported the incident to a relative Wednesday night who notified the Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives are still looking into the case.
