Man killed on job died of asphyxiation
A preliminary report shows the man who was killed on the job in Monkey Junction earlier this week died from asphyxiation. The medical examiner’s office also says there were no signs of blunt force trauma to the victim, 28-year-old Walter Banegas.
Although foul play is not suspected, detectives and OSHA are still investigating.
It happened tuesday at Watson Portable Welding on Carolina Beach Road. Banegas was operating a fork lift at the time of the incident.
