Meanwhile the rescue and recovery efforts continue in Chile. More than 200 people are confirmed dead in Chile, where the earthquake struck around 3:34 a.m. local time about 200 miles southwest of the capital city of Santiago. Geologists say the earthquake had 500 times more energy than the one that hit Haiti in January. Better building codes in Chile are credited with limiting the damage, though damage is still quite extensive.
