Man robs pharmacy; commits suicide with pills

Time: 7:44 p.m. – Wednesday night
Location: 2606 Carolina Beach Road – Rite Aid Pharmacy
Offense: Common Law Robbery

Summary: A man came into the drugstore and went to the pharmacy counter. He handed the cashier a note demanding a specific kind of prescription pills and saying that he did not have anything to lose. The store employee told the man they did not have what he wanted, so the man wrote down the name of another drug. The employee gave the man the pills and he left.

Several hours later a man matching the description of the robber died of an apparent overdose of prescription drugs. Both cases are under investigation.
