ONLY ON 3: Cameron Art Museum shares details on pricey utility bill
WILMINGTON – After our story on the Cameron Art Museum’s budget Tuesday, we got some feedback asking why its utility bills are so high.
The museum board says it runs some $350,000 per year.
We asked that question today, and the CAM gave us the following information:
Main building power $7,300 per month
Pancoe building power $550 per month
Parking lot lights $460 per month
Parking lot sign power $120 per month
Nat’l gas / heat $6,000 per month
Water $670 per month
Phone $1,250 per month
Insurance $5,085 per month
Property taxes $42 per month
Credit line interest $2,083 per month
Credit line $1,000 per month
Museum executives say they’ve had Progress Energy out to do an assessment, to make sure everything was running as efficiently as possible. They were told it is, and unfortunately, it’s just an expensive facility to run.
